About the Magazine
While promoting the first issue of Diary 16, we were despite ourselves confronted to the question of meaning. After presenting our project to the Swiss, German, French, English, Italian, and Spanish public, we were forced to notice the differences in esthetic and literary sensitivities; first between the public and ourselves and between the different people that make up the public. These discrepancies encouraged us to ask ourselves the eminently intimate question of meaning. There is something that has to do with mental survival in the search for meaning, in the need to align our perceptions, to qualify them to draw meaning from them.Meaning is subjective, even if it can be share. What gives meaning to meaning is precisely its personal nature, built and developed from our culture, our society, and our own experiences. This quest is an “anthropopoïésis”, this ability that founds our being as humans.
Sensitive surface aspires to give unrestricted expression to individual feelings, to possible projections into other peoples’ sensory and sensible experiences. To finally remind us that the world is unlimited, for it is such as we manufacture it in our minds.
